My name is Celina Morales, I'm Salvadoran, and I specialize in graphite drawing. I love capturing moments, emotions, and people in every stroke of my pencil, and sharing them with others in the hope that it might inspire them to do the same.
I draw because that's where I found myself.
After several years of searching for how I could grow professionally and genuinely nurture my talents, I accidentally discovered the magic of pencils. I realized something that, deep down, I had always known: that I needed to dedicate myself to art, curiosity, and creativity...
I am completely self-taught, which sometimes may come with insecurities, but it has allowed me to connect in an authentic and intuitive way with the pencils and paper. I've learned as I've gone along, so I still consider myself an evolving artist.
About me
Much more than hiperrealism...
I could spend all day writing paragraphs about why I love drawing and the graphite technique, so I'll summarize it as best I can:
Graphite drawing is a technique rich in strokes and tonal values, the result of a long and meditative process. That's why it offers me so much introspection as an artist and as a person, providing me with a space for intimate conversations with the paper.
For this reason, the goal of my work is far from trying to "replicate photographs." Ironically, the end goal lies in the process itself and not the finished work. I've found that even though I usually start my artworks with hyperrealism, my hand starts to find its own voice as the drawing progresses, resulting in a chaotic mess of strokes beautifully coexisting together.
The materials I use could be considered almost rudimentary: pencil, paper, eraser. Three tools we've all grown up with, but that offer much more than they seem capable of. That's why I find them so magical and love sharing their potential with others, whether it's through my creative processes or my finished works.
